Good News! Both Agnes Ravatn* and Gunnar Staalesen will be appearing at the Tidelines book festival in Irvine, Scotland on the 21-24 September 2107. Nordic Noir are definitely big fans of both of these authors from Norway. Agnes is relatively new on the scene in the UK having had one book translated into English and published by Orenda Books. Her book the Bird Tribunal was my top read in 2016. Gunnar on the other hand is a master of the genre and has many, many books under his belt. I am seriously addicted to reading the adventures of his detective Varg Veum. If you want to check out some reviews of their work you can click through to these links on our blog:
Agnes info here.
Tidelines is a small festival but it is expertly curated and there are some other excellent events on too. Check out the programme here.
If you aren’t familiar with the area you are also relatively close to Alloway where Robert Burns comes from and set Tam O’ Shanter. It is an interesting place to visit with an excellent museum, poetry walk and the Brig O’ Doon. Definitely a great place for a short break.
*NOTE: Agnes Ravatn has been replaced by Thomas Enger due to illness. A fabulous author, also from Norway who will be appearing on my Dark Lands panel at Bloody Scotland also.
