Stirling ‘crime wave’ nails Bloody Scotland to the map

‘Am I going to Bloody Scotland? I’ve had enough of bloody Scotland,’ a quote which, in fairness, couldn’t be further from the truth. The line came from the historian Tom Devine during Saturday’s post referendum debate. He’d been asking a Yes activist if they were going to Stirling’s crime writing festival but I guess they had other things on their mind.

Chaired by Iain McWhirter It was an interesting discussion with a strong panel including William McIllvaney, Mona Siddique, and Karine Polwart. In terms of balance the panel was 4-1 for Yes, with the audience largely sitting in that camp too, so at times the event felt more like a wake than a debate, with a lot of emphasis placed on the grieving process.
