Led by Pietari Kaapa, Lecturer in Media and Communication at the University of Stirling. The course has been structured so that each film screening is open to the general public but the course is a closed group. Each of the four weeks will build upon previous learning and the MacRobert hopes that members will begin to feel comfortable in a group and this will support discussion and participation.
The course will provide an accessible introduction to the region’s film cultures, and debates many of its key contemporary themes; multiculturalism, the role of capitalism, the rise of nationalism, political corruption, and gender contradictions. The films screened will underline the contrasts and diversity of Nordic film culture and include Jar City, Let The Right One In, Pioneer and In A Better World.
29 October, 5, 12 & 19 November 2014 7.30pm – 10pm / £60
